The winner of the Man Booker International Prize for 2019. Beginning in the 1970s, and set in Oman, this book was a beautiful work of literary fiction, taking us through the lives of three sisters as they and the nation grapple with the transitional phase caused by the juxtaposition of modernisation over convention, not just in lifestyle and technology but also in thoughts. The writing was poetic, which was my most favourite element of the book.
