This heart-warming tale of renewing familial love and bond, revolves around the lives of Lee and Lyla, and their adventure as they travel back to their ranch in Canada from their familiar German home, when they are frantically summoned by their aunt. As they travel, they cannot but relive memories of what transpired, as they anxiously await what might befall them in their father's ranch in Canada. As each person in the tale braces themselves up to face their inner demons, long-hidden secrets, and emotions that they would rather not face, the enchantment of the ranch, the wilderness, and the unshakeable familial ties all weave their magic to keep things together. I loved this tale from Birovljev and I found her writing captivating. I can't wait to read the other books of the Willow Ranch series. My thanks to Birovljev, the publishers North Raven Books, and Lauren of iRead BT, for gifting me with a copy of this book.

Starting with a Lenape lore in its preface, the book sets the tone and pace for a magical ride, and Birovljev does not disappoint. This was quite a twist to the earlier book I read of her - Shadow Horses of the Rocky Mountains. Entwining the lives of Lyla and Chuck, are the wild magical air and the secrets of the Rocky Mountains. With diagonally different backgrounds and backstories that involve loss, trauma, and determination, Chuck and Lyla form an unusual alliance that proves formidable, helping them overcome their inner turmoil, and renew their faith in life. I love Birovljev deftly and subtly suggests elements of things beyond human control at different points throughout the tale, while also using perfectly plausible explanations for the non-believers. I am quite enjoying the Willow Ranch series that bring the Rocky Mountains so vividly to life.

With quirky repartees, witty conversations, engaging narration, and memorable characters, this proved to be my favourite thus far in the Willow Ranch / Rocky Mountain series.
We see Lee and Lyla come to terms with their destinies with a new set of circumstances here, with the pacing being set initially with the intriguing Iroquois legend. The supporting characters are delightful to read about - be it Lonefeather Jones, Rosie, Woodwind, Dorothy, or Sam, Birovljev gets us interested in all their stories and life decisions. I am beginning to fall in love with Birovljev's writing - so much so that I do not want the series to end at all!

I had an inkling that powerful characters such as Rosie and Woodwind would not be forgotten that easily, and I was delighted to see them take the spotlight in this fourth instalment of this series.
Starting with the Wolf Tale that we might have crossed paths with earlier in varied forms - from a Cherokee Legend, the author sets the pace for what's to come brilliantly! Following the story of Kachina is an experience that nobody should miss. Birovljev's writing brings the locales to life, and makes the characters so endearing. It's been a treat reading the series, and my thanks to Birovljev and Lauren of iRead BT for gifting me with a copy of this book.
