Rei Shimura, a Japanese-American determined to make a decent and honourable living in Tokyo, works as an English language teacher, and when fate throws her in the midst of the murder of the trophy wife of a "salaryman", she decides to dwell into the mystery at all costs. This was a very insightful tale into the livelihood of those with mixed cultures. Although it strayed from the main plot into several (most of the times unnecessary) tangents, the book still made an interesting read.
