This was a splendid tale of the supernatural world, taking us through the realms of the elves, who are unfortunately trapped on the Earthly plane, owing to a curse from their ancestors. The tale follows the life and times of Priscilla, a formidable lady elf, who is also blessed with an uncanny intuition. As Priscilla and her battalion win their way through the warring elf clans, or elf houses, as they are referred to in this book, they come face to face with numerous challenges, with war being the least problematic.
This is as much a book of self discovery, values, and beliefs, as it is about the lives of elves. The pace is gripping, and doesn't lag, even during the warring scenes. I loved the characterization of Priscilla, who is more human in her acceptance of her flaws, and goes through her phases of regrets and strength with equal elan. I'm pretty sure that the rest of the series would be as fascinating as this.

Diedra Drake is a life-long student of mythology and history, with a particular interest in the ways that different cultures tell the same stories using name variations. She is competent in classical Latin, and enjoys reading the classics – particularly Homer, Plutarch, and Shakespeare. For relaxation, Diedra loves to crack open a new historical romance novel or binge a new series on streaming. After a couple of decades being a business owner in the technology industry, she decided to explore her other interests through the creation of a mythic fantasy romance world. She lives in Central Texas with her family, which includes a small cat colony and a couple of dogs, and tries to ensure she gets a daily serving of ice cream for continual inspiration.
