Book Review - "The Way Things Were" by Aatish Taseer

The Way Things WereThe Way Things Were by Aatish Taseer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a magnificent work of beautiful articulation, used with an ambitious plot. Panning three generations, and touching upon important historical events in India including the emergency period, the book follows the trail of Skanda, visiting India with his father’s remains to find those a place in his father’s most favourite abode, India. The characters are tastefully crafted. Skanda and Toby stand out amongst them all in the reader’s mind, not just because of their penchant for Sanskrit, but because they are unpretentious with their faults and endearing at the same time. I absolutely cherished reading this book.
